OOoH! It’s Monday again!
Such an exciting day in Blogland. I get to see all the wonderfully luscious Vases in ‘In a Vase on Monday’ hosted by Cathy at Rambling in the Garden. A genius of an idea as there are always little stories that go along with the plants and the props AND I get to learn more about plants, and how and where they grow.
Our Photo Challenge also goes live on a Monday. This week, the prompt word is ‘Green’ and I was wondering about combining it with ‘In a Vase…’ – but then on Saturday I went to an Open Garden event and got the GREEN photo I am going to use for that (hope you will like it – it will most probably appear in tomorrow’s post, and will be a taster for Wednesday’s Walk-Along post). Please do have a look at the Photo Challenge, all the subjects are there for you to think about well in advance – Next week’s subject is ‘Bloom’, another good fit for this glorious meme – you might like to join us. We also get the two prompt words for Ronovan’s Haiku Challenge, so my head is in a bit of a creative whirl which I LOVE and it sets off my week on a beautifully positive creative note.
The idea of GREEN for the ‘In a Vase…’ had taken hold, so I used this bright green little watering can and foliage from the garden. Euonymous, ladies mantle, and other things I don’t know the names of. Still much to learn.
It sits on the old pine cupboard under the stairs next to a bowl that holds Angel Cards. I picked one at random for this picture and look! what a perfect Angel to have.

The picture is one of glass bugs which I bought in an Art Gallery in St. Davids, Pembrokeshire, on my last visit there.
My intention is to do some doodle bugs to put in a white frame next to it, maybe some little beetles set out in the same way or a couple of bigger doodles to go either side.
To start … a quick sketch idea for a grasshopper.

I love that vase, it really shows off the beautiful yellow flowers. I hate bugs, but those that you have are so colourful, I actually think they are quite sweet! Lovely, colourful picture that you drew today too! You have been busy being creative!. I have been working today but my husband bought me some orange and yellow roses which are beautiful. They are in just a glass vase though! 🙂

Glass bugs don’t move or bite! Ha! The ‘vase’ works quite well, and is just a cheap tin can from a cut-price shop. What a thoughtful husband – the flowers sound gorgeous and in your favourite colour too.

Don’t worry, you will never hear the H word from me!! 🙂 Your green vase is so elegant and a prime example of how simply and effectively a vase can be put together – it looks lovely and the watering can is the perfect match. The ‘bugs’ look as if they might have been originally created from beads, with added embellishments – what do you think? Are you going to be stitching/applique-ing your grasshopper? And have you made your angel cards? Thanks so much for your enthusiasm – great to have you with us!

You could be right about the beads, I don’t know very much about working with glass. I am thinking about drawing the grasshopper as a slightly more refined and detailed doodle, but now you have got me thinking – she might look very good in fabric and embroidery – mmmmm – thank you for that thought! I didn’t make the Angel cards, you can buy sets of them, I bought mine at Findhorn, Scotland where they were first created.
You have started a wonderful ‘community’, it’s great!

I got a bit hooked on the whole Findhorn thing at one time and read loads of books about Eileen Caddy and the making of the garden – it is a wonderful story isn’t it – full of magic. A friend of mine lived nearby the Foundation for a while and I was able to visit and dip into some of what they did there. Findhorn Beach is especially wonderful! And their eco-houses are a delight to wander round.

That’s a good question! I used to have a garden infused with magic at every turn – this one is taking time for the magical energies to reveal themselves – I’m sure they will come …….. it sounds to me that your garden is full of magic, how long have you been working your magic there?

We have been here for nearly 19 years and the garden was created from a virtually empty space. The magic has been more recent than that, the last 3 or 4 years in particular, but I cannot accept responsibility for it… Those same energies will be lurking in your garden somewhere, I am sure…

Housework – que?! What’s that!!??!! I’m in the garden mostly today as at last the wind has dropped – I’m not fond of being buffeted about when digging or weeding. It’s great to pop in every so often to catch up with the blogs. am saving your walk round Old Sarum for later, with a cuppa – mmm looking forward to that.
