This rose, Floribunda Korresia, was given to me as a thank-you present this week, isn’t that lovely!
I don’t know where to plant it yet but thought I would celebrate the gift by using two blooms in my ‘Vase on Monday’. Just these two blooms fill the room with a glorious scent. The vase is a glass nightlight holder, which is great on a table outside as the shape protects the flame from the breeze. To keep the blooms and twigs of twisty willow in place I used some pebbles with holes in them, and threaded the stalks through the holes – clever huh! Where did that thought come from!
How and where to photograph the vases is always a challenge for me – very few places with clear backgrounds.
I have been decorating in the house this week and the terracotta pots the vase is standing on, were first painted with a watered down coat of white paint and then a couple of coats of left-over household emulsion paint. Except the urn which is painted with some left over Eggshell paint. Ooooo! I love those colours. The pots will go outside against the north facing wall of my garage that is being painted white. The ones covered with the vinyl emulsion last about two years before needing another coat to freshen them up. The turquoise Eggshell on the urn has lasted 4 years and still does not need a retouch.
Still looking for the right background for the vase, I took this photo in front of the TV screen, what do you think?
The contorted willow was grown from a little sprig that had sprouted roots in a vase about 6 years ago – it is now a magnificent tree, about 30′ tall, arching beautifully over my drive-way.
So looking forward to seeing all the other Vases over on Rambling in the Garden. Pop on over and take a look, there are bound to be some gems!
Great colours. Reminds me of some of your afghan colour choices.

I just noticed the tag line on your blog is “the joy of creativity.” It shows in your interesting vase today. The rose looks like it would smell delicious.

This meme is opening my eyes to all sorts of possible containers to be used as vases and it is so great to see all the vases from all over the world. Thanks so much for dropping by.

A beautiful rose and I like your ‘vase’ too – it looks made for your very artistic arrangement. Love your painted pots – the bright colours are so summery. Would never have thought of taking a photo in front of the TV screen but I think I prefer the white wall as a background too.

Thank you Elizabeth, so glad you liked the elements in the picture – I was going for an Ikebana style arrangement. I prefer the white wall too, I need to create some clearer spaces in front of white walls for these Vases on Mondays.

Lovely vase – the rose is a beautiful colour and the little sprigs of twisted willow set it off to perfection – I like the dark TV screen too. You’ve loads of imagination, haven’t you?

Thank you Cathy! So pleased you like the different aspects you mention. Love your comment about imagination – it can be a blessing and a curse! Well curse a bit strong but my ‘ideas’ will not leave me alone sometimes and I just have to act on them – it can drive the people around me bonkers!!!! Ha!Ha! xx

It’s a simple arrangement that turns out not to be so simple! The pebbles with drilled holes are indeed a clever device and I think the idea of photographing the vase in front of the TV screen is ingenious.

Gosh thanks Kris! The pebbles are ‘lucky’ pebbles found on the beach, with holes already in them – I shall be looking for more now with stem thicknesses in mind!

Thank you Donna, I’m finding that I look at everything now as a potential ‘vase’ and or prop – loving this meme – simple and rich at the same time.

Your rose is lovely, but I must admit the painted pots caught my eye first! Love them!

What beautiful roses, and how wonderful that they have such a gorgeous scent too. They look great with the willow, very artistic. I love the pots too and their bright colours, I actually thought the dark tv screen showed the vase off to the best advantage, as it really makes the yellow stand out. Beautiful 🙂

Thought you might like the roses! 😉 Yes I liked how the yellow and glass looked against the black, with a slight reflection in the screen – might try that again sometime. So happy you liked it – wish I could send the scent out to you all – it is so soft and sweet – a real rose smell.

I am very tempted to give it a whirl. Where do you buy your pots. The shape is lovely

I’ve picked up the pots at garden centres over the years, it is quite hard to find pleasing shapes nowadays, I find.

Yours was the first vase today – and how lovely it was 🙂 Great idea for the pebbles – I have some pebbles with holes drilled for tea lights which I have in mind for a Monday vase sometime. it’s hard to imagine how fragrant the actual bush must be if two blooms scent the whole room. Great idea for painting the pots – might I suggest Wilkinson’s testers if you want small quantities of certain colours? Can’t remember what bright colours they have although I have used purple and hot pink and various blues. I might get some for the dahlias that are staying in pots as I have no space to put them – thanks for the thought, and for your enthusiasm for the meme!

Love all your painted terracotta – what a great idea. A happy gift of the roses – if two blooms scent the room, I imagine the whole bush is divine!

I love the roses but really really love your pots. Brilliant I would never have thought to paint terracotta.

So happy! 🙂 I’ve just bought some orange Eggshell to paint some more – first time I’ve actually bought new paint for painting terracotta pots but just couldn’t resist the temptation – your comment encouraged me!!!! Will you try it? xx

Very arty, minimalist design. I like it. I would have photographed it against the white wall on a flat surface so I like the top one without the pots!

Yeah! That would definitely have shown the vase to better effect. I’m gonna have to sort out a white space for these ‘vase’ photos. Love that you have described it as ‘arty’! Very happy with that! ❤
