I’m entering this photo in Cee’s ‘Which Way’ Wednesday Challenge.
It was taken last year on a gloriously wonderful visit to Bateman’s, the home of the author of the Jungle Book, Rudyard Kipling.
If anyone asked me what or where they should visit if they only had a limited amount of time and wanted to soak up English heritage, Bateman’s would be at the very top of the list.
It is the singularly most peaceful and beautiful home I have ever visited. A delight and a joy.
The picture above is only the tiniest glimpse.

Bateman’s really is wonderful! We visited a few years ago when our children were smaller and in Rudyard Kipling’s children’s play room in the old house our children were encouraged to play with the traditional toys. There were no ‘do not touch’ signs! Happy memories…

It’s great that so many of us have been to Bateman’s. The National Trust really are good about providing things for children to do – my grandchildren love the places we have been and the staff are always very kind and welcoming to them.

We visited Bateman’s in March this year, my second visit, but I know exactly what you mean. The house and gardens are just imbued with the spirit of Kipling, a wonderful weaver of stories.

I totally agree. I have only visited once many many years ago, but it has stayed with me as a wonderful magical place. I can picture the garden and study still.

So good to hear that Cathy, to know we share the same response to the place. It stays with me too, there is definitely a magical air around that place.
