Ginny asks us to include a book we are reading, but I don’t seem to read books nowadays, so I listen/watch things instead. I was watching ‘Last Chance Harvey’ whilst making these squares. Which is an easy watch, but I can’t help thinking it was a waste of the talents of Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson.

Here is the address to send squares to if you feel able to do so.DSC_0001

This is the first pile of fabulous blankets made by all you wonderful people that are going out to Calais and Lesbos this week!

From Sarah, who helped stitch the squares together: –

“Jane popped round earlier, so I now have all of the amazing blankets, hats and other yarny goodies to give to Lee Godwin tomorrow. Just “Wow” everyone, so proud of what we have achieved in such a short space of time. Thank you, thank you.”

Jane, the organiser of this refugee effort, posted a lovely comment on my blog – here it is for anyone that missed it: –

  2. Just lovely! And what comfort it brings to those who are the most vulnerable. (The little hearts are really a special touch.)

    • Thank you for your lovely comment Jen, I saw those little hearts sitting in my stash just waiting for their moment. I hope they send a little extra message of love and support. And it has given me an idea to ‘sign’ all the cushions and throws I makes for friends and family with a little heart too. I love it when one creative act feeds into another. ❤

      • Have you seen what Lee put on Facebook about the blankets?
” Ladies I have distributed all hats and blankets in Lesbos this week. I gave them to the most vulnerable and they were appreciated more than I can tell you. When I get back to the UK I will post photos….in the meantime I just wanted to share my complete and utter gratitude. People were overwhelmed that they were handmade for them. Your all brilliant, you have changed lives as it is freezing here at night. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxx love you guys.”
