Our Photo Challenge Prompt: HOME
Ronovan’s Haiku prompt words: MILK and SMOOTH
What is it about an Aga that says ‘home’? Something about it’s always-warm heart and comfortable proportions, I think. This one is in our holiday home. I don’t have one myself, but my Dad had one in his house.

It is the second time I have gathered my children and grandchildren there and it is as welcoming as it looks. I hope we will be able to return again.

Beautiful photo and what a glorious holiday home! This picture really spoke to me. One day we will redo our kitchen and my husband cannot understand my obsession with Aga, But somehow I just know that walking into a kitchen warmed by a marvelous Aga will make everyone feel at home.

An Aga has such character, like a warm hug waiting for you every time you walk in the room. I hope you get your wish.

Thankfully I’m catching up on my reader as I just stumbled upon this new participant. She’s living in my home state of Maine and we have been corresponding the last year or so. Her writing is beautiful, always from the heart, and it’s a real joy to have her join our growing group. http://wickedruralapothecary.com/2016/02/21/2016-photo-challenge-home/

That kitchen rocks! Love the stove (Aga). Your haiku is interesting and made me think of home––and porridge which I haven’t had in a while. 😉

It is warming to know that the sentiment of the Haiku came through. ❤️

ah, our AGA is in pieces in the barn waiting for a new home. Stoked with coal (two -one gallon containers a day) it was so warm and friendly and dearly missed… although radiant floors now (almost) make up for it not being there.

Solid fuel Agas are hard work, but I understand why you miss it.

A great combination Sandra. The haiku is a engaging of the moment haiku.
The image is very homely as you explain.

Thank you Denis. The haiku does not flow as I would have liked but I think it conveys the sentiment.

What a fun and gorgeous kitchen. Very impressed how you tied the haiku words into the photo word. I have finally decided on my photo, though I haven’t taken it nor have I done the haiku. I think I must thrive under pressure, though I don’t necessarily like it.
So busy with work and very tired. Will work less hours this summer, but we are renovating the hotel, paint, reupholstering, etc. and it is all hands on deck (the few of us that are around this time of year) Missing contact with cyber friends!! Hope life is good Sandra. Xx

Gosh they are so lucky to have you with all your practical and creative skills. Life sounds so very busy, rewarding I’m sure, hope you are getting enough YOU time. ❤️
Things went a bit squinky here for a while! Just reconnecting with all things bloggy.

Squinky 😀 Nice word, but don’t think I’m liking what it means.
No, not enough me time. Waiting for the rest of the staff to trickle back onto the island then I’m going to only work 3 or 4 nights per week. Looking into a retreat for just me to go to soon. Want to detox and reconnect, just stop for a few days. Very excited to spend my heard earned money on a bit of head space. Will let you know what I do.
I hope all is well with you. Write me an email if you want to chat ANYTIME!! Lots of love and light coming your way. Xx

Oh WOW! A retreat! Sounds perfect! Thank you so much for the warmth of your comment, it is like a hug coming over the airways. Nothing awful has happened, just a combination of events, one of them being me locking my car keys in my car and having to wait for 2.5hours for Road Rescue to get them out for me! A quiet catching up day today, and the sun is shining! ❤️

It certainly belts the heat out, not sure I’d want one on in the summer.

How apt, Sandra. When we built our extension, half of which is a kitchen, an Aga was very definitely on my wishlist. I then dithered over whether to have a new or reconditioned one, and went for new in the end – not cheap of course, but I have never regretted it. It does all I expected it to do, and more – and is most definitely the heart of the house, which you especially notice when it is switched off (mine is gas) and cold, waiting for a service… The house is just not the same without it.

A gas one must be easy to use, my Dad’s was solid fuel which seemed like a lot of work. Still a cosy place to warm your toes though.

Yes, and the Golfer loves it as he doesn’t need to know anything about oven temperatures when it is his turn to cook!

We grew up with one and my sister inherited one in her cottage. We can’t justify the cost at the moment but have an electric range cooker which is the next best thing. Bright red, too, so it’s definitely the focal point and heart of the home!

A beautiful Aga….sigh…I have a nook in my kitchen where an Aga used to be before our time. I would love one to fill that gap. (Just need to win the lottery!)

You certainly can still get them, they come in all sorts of wonderful colours too. I wouldn’t want one now but wonderful for a family home.
