….at last. It was 2004 when I last exhibited my paintings, since then I have had two house moves, three weddings (my children’s), 8 grandchildren and a Mum with dementia. Now that Mum is safely tucked up in a delightful Care Home and all the babies are growing up (the youngest batch will all be 4 this year) ,I have found some clear space to once more take up the brushes and squeeze out the paints.
The most exciting bit

then out on the grass to dry
along with two orange based paintings done in the same way and some old canvases I dug out that needed priming with Gesso
Using the orange brush-cleaning water from the other paintings to go over the blues, giving a bit of depth. I wondered about leaving them there.
These will be backgrounds for the bits and pieces picked up on the beaches to create Beach Clean Art.
But just had to go on and add another layer
blotting them with bubble wrap to add a bit of texture
and put them out on the grass to dry …
I will leave them up around the house for a few days allowing ideas to develop about whether to add more paint or go straight to adding some beach clean pieces.
I have a target of 7 paintings for my 16 for 2016 list, although these are still in process, at least I have made a start.
Those backgrounds look wonderful!

Thanks Eddie – I’ve been playing with paint again today, hopefully there will be something finished soon – it takes me ages to decide on whether a painting is finished or not.

The sixth image of the blue is quite Monet like

Now you mention it I can see what you mean Denis – I wonder if he just daubed great dollops of paint on his canvases and spuddled them around – I will do some more blue ones and leave them dreamy – thank you.

It sure is Dorris – wish I could just keep going for days, but now the garden calls – you know how it is!

I have zero talent in the paint department (except the painted furniture variety) and am in awe of anyone who can wield a paintbrush. How you created the base for your beach finds is fascinating. Can’t wait for more!

For texture how about adding some sand from the beach? Love the process so far!

That’s a great idea. There is one I’m doing using sand mixed with PVA. I’m experimenting with how to use it – will be sure to write a post when I’ve got something I’m pleased with. 😉

I’m using acrylics, I’m a bit scared of oils! Glad you enjoyed seeing the way I’m working on these. Thanks for you email. 😉

A batch of grandchildren! I often wondered what the collective noun was! Well done on getting your paints out. I am sure you are going to create some marvellous art.

Thank you Cathy – I’m encouraged by your confidence!
I have also called them a’ tumble of grandchildren’, and a ‘cuddle……’. Sometimes an ‘exhaustion of grandchildren’ would fit as well! 😉

I’m glad to know that you enjoyed seeing the painting through it’s stages. Thank you for your encouragement. Childcare and gardening have halted things for a moment but ideas are bubbling away.
