Our Weekly Photo Challenge: SUMMER
I was wondering which photo to choose to represent Summer and walked out of my front door to be greeted by the first Stargazer Lily to open this year – mmmmm that scent – mmmm those colours – says Summer to me.

I agree about the beautiful scent of Stargazers and the detail on the super close-up shots is so vivid. When I worked as a florist one of my jobs was removing the pollen from the lilies, for mess and allergy reasons, and I find myself holding back doing so to the ones in my garden. Rather leave them as nature intended now that I can.

Working as a florist is one of the jobs I think I might have enjoyed. I know the stamens can stain clothes. I’m enjoying watching the stamens go through their different stages, I’d never noticed before taking these photos how much they change from day to day.

Stunners, aren’t they? I don’t know what has happened to mine ~ four years ago I had an amazing display, now I’ve got about five puny efforts!

Mine don’t survive unless I keep them in pots. I also feed them with tomato feed. Poor punies – give them my love! ❤
