All collected on Sunday on the Thames foreshore. We were told that the green glazed pottery was likely to be Medieval.

I was amazed to see how much there was, especially as it seems there are people beach-combing all the time. Well worth a look so long as you watch the tide times.

I love all these arrangements. They are so cool and interesting. My son and I would love to play with stuff like this. How would you display something like this?

Thank you Sleepy Town, so glad you find them interesting. How to display them is certainly a challenge – I will be experimenting with different methods. I think some of the smaller items can be glued onto a background, others I might try sewing or wiring onto canvas. I will sure to be sharing my experiments some time in the future. Thank you for your interest.

If you found a big plane tile for the background you could tile glue/grout them in place? Then maybe put inside a box frame or leave unframed as a texture piece?
Just some ideas off the top of my head.

I’m in the grip of seahorse mania MM! Glad you like them. Must work out how to stick the glass to canvas and keep it looking good.

Thank you Eddie. For now the pieces are just arranged on canvas, but I like the seahorses too so I’m hoping to find a way to create a permanent picture.

These are wonderful–what a quirky creative eye you have! Do you affix the bits permanently and display these or just play with the pieces and move on?

Thank you Kerry. At the moment I’m enjoying arranging, rearranging and photographing. Eventually I will create some permanent pieces which will go into an exhibition of Beach Clean Art in May/June 2018. I’m wondering about creating some prints on canvas of some of the temporary arrangements – what do you think? Would that be a good idea?

You mean prints on paper, that would capture the look without the heft of the actual objects? I think that’s a very nice idea! I don’t know what others do but it seems to me that you really do have an eye for interesting layouts–maybe the prints could be sold?

You can get photos printed on paper and canvas – I am wondering if they would sell – I might try a few out and see. Glad you like the idea.

Mystic Melissa! Yes you are right – Dorset Arts Weeks 2018. Miss E and I will be exhibiting our Beach Clean Art. It is turning into a wonderful project. I’m just back from 2hrs Beach Cleaning on Ringstead Beach with Miss E, Master R and Little Miss M – they have all caught the bug! Proudly showing their Mum all the treasure/rubbish they collected.

Dorset Arts Weeks is an Open Studio event of hundreds of artists all over Dorset and it only happens every other year. Miss E and I went to see a few exhibitions this year and she asked if she could exhibit next time, of course I said ‘YES!!’ and thought maybe it would be best if I did it with her. I hope to get some artwork from each of my grandchildren in there too – all beach/sea themed.

Thanks Cathy, it made me smile when I thought of it. I always do seem to find bit of one of those lighters when beach cleaning so it might be gaining some relatives soon.

Gosh! That is quite a haul. We once bought a second hand Land Rover that had a Mud Larks logo painted on the side. Must have belonged to a club at one time.
The sea glass lends itself wonderfully well to the delicate nature of seahorses.

An amazing amount collected in just 1hr 45mins, I will be going again. It was surprisingly easy to create a seahorse shape out of the glass, with a clay pipe stem for the snout. The trick will be to fix them well enough and still look good – not so easy!
