Teddy’s favourite

Miss E very sweetly asked me if I could mend the first dress I had made for Teddy as it is her FAVOURITE

Of course I could not resist this Boro-esque challenge.

First I needed to darn the holes and stabilise the edge with a running stitch

Then I carefully washed the dress and took it to Miss E for further instructions.

She asked for a daisy to cover the darn in the front and for me to neaten the edge. I hope she approves of the result as seen in the first photo.

  4. What an important favourite you have shared in these images and story Sandra and what patient skill you have employed to help miss E. I will send my favourite soon and a Cross , unfortunately we have been away doing our last nature based travelling out of device range before D for dog day.

  6. That is so sweet. I love how Miss E played a part in the design. I too thought the first pic was the brand new dress.

  8. What a lovely tale about a favourite! We all had a childhood special toy, so I’m sure we can all identify with how precious this is! 😊

    • I’m glad you liked the story, linking us all to our childhood. My sister’s old teddy even appeared at her wedding as part of the ‘father of the bride’ speech.

      • Oh how lovely! Funnily enough at my brother’s wedding last week, his new wife’s Barbie dolls were mentioned by her father in his speech! Aparently she had quite a few… hard to believe now that she’s a mountain climbing action woman these days! Although she does dress very well 😊

I’m with Rainbow Junkie. I thought the first picture was of the dress when it was new. That is some repair, as we would say in Maine.

  11. What a great and creative mending job! I still remember my Grandma coming to visit from Nebraska, and her first task was always to fix Teddy, who’s arms and legs always seemed to be in danger of falling off. ONLY Grandma could do the job! Miss E will treasure your doing this forever!

  14. You obviously have an astute young lady there ~ not throwing it away and knows exactly what she wants too! I thought, in the first photo, it was a new dress ~ You’ve done a wonderful job.

    • Thanks so much Deb. I do find darning very satisfying, although I don’t do it much nowadays. I’m hoping to instil the ‘make do and mend’ mindset in my grandchldren – it seems to be working with one of them at least!
