I literally HUGGED this parcel when it arrived, before opening the plastic wrapper, before seeing what was inside, I hugged it and did and little dance and a skip! I savoured imagining what it would look like, what it would feel like – I squealed with delight – my postman knows me – he smiles knowingly.
Of course I do not need more yarn, I do not need to start yet another new project, I do not need a ‘cake’, I have no idea what I will make with it, just had to get one!
……. on the other hand the impulse to try out Mandala Madness in a different yarn and colour-way is too overwhelming to resist.
You understand, don’t you!
I’m going for pastels this time in 4ply Scheepjes Stonewashed a cotton and acrylic mix.
Decision time: this palette?
or this one without the stronger pink and turquoise?
I think it might be a bedcover for one of the twins – girls aged 4. The colours go with their bedroom.
This will be another Mandala Madness with Spiro Star at the centre, both patterns by Helen Shrimpton, with video Tutorials by Esther
I’m so excited, I just want to get going on it – but – the sun is shining and there’s gardening to be done – high class dilemnas!
Joining in today with Cathy’s Natter on a Friday.
Everyone knows yarn isn’t about ‘need’, it’s just what makes us happy 😀

Yay! Non-crafters seem to find the concept quite difficult to understand. I’ve had looks of horror from friends who have seen my yarn stash!

Add the stronger pinks the girls will love it.

Thank you Dorris – I think you might be right, they are very ‘pink’ little girls! So funny to see my hunky rugby-playing son with three little pink butterflies flitting around him. 🙂

Oooooh. The picture had me going just as soon as I scrolled by in my reader….I’m with Cathy, I like the darker pink color way.

Glad I caught your eye with my colour choices Kathy. Of course I caved in and tried them out – I’m loving working with them – so restful on the eye.

I can just see you doing the happy dance with the postman! I vote for keeping the brighter, stronger colors–pastels need some zip!

Thank you Kerry, I think you might be right – I’m all for a bit of zzzzip!

For the sort of project you have in mind I would choose the top one. Gives you the darker colours for emphasis. Interested to see what you choose and how it comes out.

Thank youRJ. Of course, I couldn’t resist making a start. I’m starting with all the colours I know I want and see how that looks. I do like evolving projects, without a clear end in sight.

Unlike myself who like to know how the project will look before I even start!!

Two opposite approaches to creative projects – it is fascinating isn’t it. I like the excitement of seeing how each round changes and effects my decisions – would you find that stressful?

I think I would worry that the final result would not be to my satisfaction or that I would use unequal amounts of each colour and so would want to undo it all and start again!!

Just discovered that I had not replied to this comment – I hadn’t even considered the need to use equal amounts in each colour. I suppose you are thinking you don’t want large amounts in some colours left over.

Not completely sure now what I meant! but I think it is that but also that I like to balance colours equally. I spent hours with my hexagon blanket trying to make sure I was using a similar number of each colour for the outer border. Crazy Eh!

Happy dancing happy dance. Fabulous yarn. Forget the gardening it will still be there tomorrow, and get crocheting. I like the darker pink combo.

Life certainly is! There have been many times in my life when I dreamed of having a day with just these kinds of things to decide – now they are here – celebrating the good times, the peaceful days – wishes really do come true.

I see your dilemma. Gardening in the morning when it is cool then your new project.

I love your way of thinking Lisa, I did do a little bit of gardening this morning, then the sun went in …….. it was all the excuse I needed!
