Beautiful. Funny thing is I came across this plant today growing in a woodland, on a new walk and did not know what it was. Now thanks to your beautiful mandala I do and have been able to Google it and find out more
Thank you:-)

This is so pretty and what patience you must have. It makes me look at mine in a new way. I do like it as a garden plant but I think some people don’t like the size and the fact that is seeds around. It’s so pretty and architectural though.

Yes, it might be because it seeds itself, but it is so easy to just pull up and get rid of. I’m not sure you should applaud my patience – I was supposed to be weeding – Ha! displacement activity!

Absolutely wonderful! I planted a Leycestra last year. It’s marginal in my climate but it’s not dead yet. I hope I get some of those lovely blooms one day.

Go Leycestra! You can do it! 😉

Love this….a great tribute to this plant. I have the golden one too…and the bees love this plant and then birds love the ripened berries.

I like to look of the golden one. I don’t know why they are not more popular, I just love it.

You have surgeon’s hands…I am not steady enough…I would botch my design, even starting in the middle!

I do have quite steady hands but you notice I don’t go for precision and symmetry – that would be far too demanding. 😉

Thank you Linda. There are so many colours shapes and textures on this plant, as I went to put it in the vase I just became fascinated and started taking it apart – hey presto – a mandala!

Thank you Cathy. I just LOVE this plant, although it does not seem to be much celebrated by gardeners in general. If there were two of me, one of them would be sitting and drawing all the different components and trying to capture the subtle colours in a painting. If it had a scent AND you could eat the berries, which look so very luscious, it would be my most favourite plant.

How much space does it take up, Sandra, and do you paint? No scent and inedible berries?
LikeLiked by 1 person
It grows to about 5′ high and 3′ spread. Grows easily from seed.
I do paint but haven’t done anything detailed and realistic for years – more sploshing abstract and collage nowadays. The pace of life doesn’t seem to allow me the headspace to concentrate on painting detail anymore – one day maybe …
