Nearly finished!
All the motifs sewn on – I just need my Grandson to try out the finger-puppet to decide how long the cord needs to be.
Pattern for the blanket is by Lucy at Attic24:
Woodland Blanket CAL: Random Colour Order
With additions:
Patterns by Lucy: Autumn Leaves and Acorns
Pattern by Charlotta for the larger Oak Leaves.
Pattern for the Larger Maple Leaves by Michelle
Pattern for the Squirrel Motif and Finger Puppet by me.
Pattern for Old Brown, sewn on as a pocket to hold Nutkin, is an adaptation of this cute little owl by Jacquie at Bunny Mummy. Jacquie has kindly given me permission to share my adaptation – coming soon!
I stopped after the 89th colour row (each colour is 2 rows) and this blanket measures.
1m19cm (3’11”) wide
1m 64cm (5’4″) long
Using Stylecraft Special DK, I mostly followed Lucy’s Random Colour Order, substituting Mocha with Walnut and changing the order a little here and there.

Thank you Sheila. I’ve really enjoyed making it. I have made a blanket for 4 grandchildren, two nieces, my daughter and a friend of my daughter (who is a sort of honorary second daughter) each one of them have had an input in the design – I really enjoy giving each person a say in how the finished blanket will look, it makes it feel more special and makes me keen to finish them.

Thank you Cathy. I have really enjoyed this project especially as it has only taken 3 months – usually blankets take me a year or more.

I hope so! He knows about the squirrel motifs, but not about the leaves, owl and finger puppet – I think he will approve – but you never know with children do you.

Thanks so much Bethany-Jade. I know Lucy saw my idea for the Squirrels and I was delighted when she put a link to my pattern on her blog. I have posted the finished blanket onto the FB group Attic24 Moorland and More: https://www.facebook.com/groups/234262100312780/
of which Lucy is a member, so she might have seen it.
