I’m learning all sorts of new terms through Instagram hashtags. I had no idea that arranging things like this had a name – it is called ‘Flat Lay’ apparently. I have done this ever since I was a kid – I just love arranging things, now I have a proper grown-up name for it.

    I love how we find out others also have a love for the things we love to do!! And then to share ideas! Your arrangement is beautiful. The colors are captivating on the blue!
    This reminds me of when a dear high school friend showed me how she drew beautiful jewel shapes into designs. It wasn’t “my” style of drawing, but to this day I think of how creative her jewel drawings were! Creativity is amazing!

    Your “flat lay” is exquisite, Sandra! I never knew that was a thing either but I’m so impressed with yours that I may try my hand at it one day too. It’s a wonderful way to use the small elements that deserve recognition for their beauty.

    It is so creative to see a bunch of leaves and stuff lying about on the ground and then turn it into this! It’s beautiful! And could be a pictorial chart for a crochet pattern….. I did not know such floral doodling had a name either 🙂

    Wow! This is stunning! I didn’t know there was a name for it either – every day is a school day! We used to have a nature table in the classroom when I was at Primary and I used to love arranging the flowers and leaves though I never made anything quite as beautiful as your display. You’re tempting me to do something similar – though I’m not certain where yet!

      Oh, yes, have a go Elizabeth. It is a great thing to do with children too. I have a couple of blank canvases that I use as backgrounds, but a piece of plain paper or a white plate works as well

    Oh and I was thinking along the lines of herbal lays (as in The Archers!) when I saw your title! This is delightful and I am so pleased that you are shaing it with us on IAVOM as I hope it will empower others to try something a little different on Mondays – thank you!

      HaHa! The Archers! I used to be such a fan, but haven’t been able to listen to it since they threw Nigel off that roof!
      So glad you like my interpretation of the theme, my garden does not have an abundance of beautiful blooms, so I have to make the most of what I’ve got.

          The Archers seemed to turn all ‘Eastenders’ from the 60th Anniversary episode onwards , if you know what I mean. I can’t stand soap operas,(perhaps because my life tends to be far too like one at times!) Of course I know lots of people like them, but they are not for me.
          So glad I’m giving a good impression of what my garden has to offer!
          That is partly why I enjoy IAVOM so much – making the most of what I’ve got.

            There was a distinct increase in drama, but then again there was that fire in the very early episodes too! It’s the only ‘soap’ I follow, having started to listen when I was first on maternity leave – so my girls have grown up alongside the Grundy boys! Glad you are enjoying the continuing saga of IAVOM though 😉

    I used to see arrangements made with coloured powders on the floors of temples in Mauritius. Your flat lay is so beautiful…I love temporary ones….very contemplative.
