Brigthening up the grey December days, these are flowers from the pelargoniums I brought in from the garden at the end of October. They are flowering again.
They sit colourfully in the vase with Euonymous.
The backdrop is my current crochet work-in-progress. The Amanzi throw by Jen Tyler.
Worked in Stylecraft Special DK and a 4.5mm hook.
Joining in with Cathy at Rambling in the Garden.

Your crochet is stunning! On our walks we can see spring bulbs poking up through the soil already.

Thank you! Yes it is slightly worrying to see so many Spring bulbs in full leaf.

The flowers match perfectly with your beautiful crochet. Your gorgeous cards arrived today, they are even more beautiful in real life than they were on the photo. I am going to frame one of them. Thank you so much.

Both the arrangement and the crochet creation are beautiful, Sandra! I wish I could get a Hydrangea to bloom here at this time of year.

One of the many things I love about visiting you is the colour – this is just wonderful! I rushed over and purchased the pattern and I’m going to make up yet another throw next winter 😀 Life is wonderful!

I let out a little squeal of delight reading your comment Pauline.
Colour really floats my boat, so glad to know that we are happily bobbing along together.
I’m excited to see what colours you choose for your Amanzi.
Life is, as you say – wonderful!! 😀

I had to stop myself from right now being knee deep in hanks of yarn and with paper and pen deciding on colours and hunting online for those I don’t yet have……. :-O

Ooh, I have WIP envy. I had a quick look at the projects on Ravelry for the pattern and some say it’s quite hard to understand so I might give it a miss for the moment. It does look beautiful though.

The pattern is not easy and I have to watch the video and refer to the written pattern and cross reference them constantly. Jen’s style takes some getting used to, but I do love the texture she creates in her patterns.

It took a bit to try and work out the scale of this, Sandra, as it makes your work-in-progress look really big at first! Great colours – what will you use the end result for? Ah, it’s a throw… My pelargoniums are all inside now and I have cut them back AND trimmed their leaves off this year; I also intend to make a note on the calendar and water them every fortnight, as per the specialists’ advice. Hope I can keep it up!

Yes, the crochet will be a throw, possibly for my 8 year old granddaughter, if she likes it. The colours remind me of a Summer garden.
I’ll be interested to see how your pelargoniums fair. I’ve tried several different ways to over-winter them over the years, but keeping them flowering all year round seems to work best for me.

I have cut mine back the last few years but this year I have followed Fibrex’s advice exactly, cutting them by half anf defoliating what’s left. I now have to remember the watering and then feeding from early spring! I knw people do keep them flowering over winter but I am happy for mine to have a rest.

It probably works better for me to keep them going as I would never remember them otherwise!

I certainly haven’t remembered in previous years, but they have just about scraped through!

Ah well no, these flowers are not from the garden, they are from plants I brought in from the garden in October, which are flowering again. But Cathy lives far north of me and hers ARE still flowering in the garden.
It’s crazy out there!

HaHa! Yes, I love the way it takes a lot of concentration, so I have time out from thinking of all the bonkersness in my life and the world at large. Pure escapism.
