The Scrap Happy Throw is coming along. If you remember I started this as an easy project I could take with me whilst travelling to Egypt. Great to make on the plane and anytime I did not want to have to think about what I was doing.
It is a great project for using up all sorts of scraps of yarn of all different weights – all tied together with a Reef Knot. I will be leaving the ends on show.
I am making it as a throw to protect a kitchen armchair (not this one) in my daughter’s new house. Perfect for her farmer husband to sit in when he comes in for lunch covered in farm grime.
It needs about 10 more rows before adding a one coloured edge.
I have also just completed a little 6″x6″ cotton doily as a housewarming present for a friend.
Made with a 2mm hook in Scheepjes Sugar Rush crochet cotton, Capri Blue.
This is the second time I have made this pattern – it is not the easiest to follow, I probably won’t make it again.
I’m joining in with Ginny and other Yarny Crafters in Ginny’s Yarn Along.
I’m not reading any books but I am listening to The Horn Section on Radio 4 Extra .
Your scrap happy throw is such a wonderful solution for that hungry man just in from the farm! Lovely contrast with the ever so precise blue. 😉

Ah yes, farm grime! I remember how amazing my mom was at getting all of our clothes superbly clean….no clue how she managed that! That doily color and shape is so unusual, really pretty!

You have reminded me of my Mum standing over her twin tub trying to get the farm clothes clean, steam billowing around her.

I absolutely love your scrappy throw. For a moment I thought you were shaping it for the chair. Like a cover. I might need to use up my odd balls on a similar project.

Do give it a go Cheryl – it is a really fun thing to make – and no ends to sew in! Yippee!!!

The blue of the doily really is eye popping candy.

I’m not usually a fan of blues – but that one – Yum!

A very happy throw and the knotting adds a wonderful texture too – brilliant! Isn’t it satisfying to use up those left over bits of yarn 😀

So satisfying. It has been wonderful to have a clear out of old abandoned projects going back over the last 30 years and to mix them in with my Mum’s old stash and left overs from new projects. I’ll be making more!

I love the way the throw mirrors the Lego in the photograph.
Lovely blue doily – so vibrant – and so brave of you to work with crochet cotton… I never touch the stuff 😉

🙂 Ha! Lego – yes I know how to style a picture! HaHa!
I do like the look of crochet cortton when it is finished, but I can’t say I enjoy working with it – so fiddly!

I knew the Lego couldn’t be a coincidence!

Well…. half and half – it was there anyway and I was just about to move it out of the way of the photo when I noticed that the colours looked fine. Thanks for noticing! 🙂

Doily is very pretty and one of my favourite colours! You must have had a lot of scraps that scrap happy throw is huge. So much work.

And I have lots more!
I will be making another as a car lap blanket. I’ve been having a clear out of old abandoned experiments and projects and adding it to my Mum’s huge stash – it makes for an interesting mix of yarn that would otherwise have been thrown away.

The doily is just beautiful, what a shame the pattern wasn’t the clearest. And the Scrappy Throw is definitely happy, what cheerful colours.
