Some dark and dastardly flowers have appeared in my light and airy, cheerful and prancy pinks, blues, purples and whites – they look like the sort of flowers dark and eeeeeeevil witches would grow
they actually have BROWN petals (I know – they are really sepals but …) BROWN!
Brown and purple together – so 70s!
They look so witchy I have marked the plants cut all the flowers off and put them in a cauldron. Now to create a suitable spell! Wwwwwahhh-ha-ha-ha…….ha!
The cauldron is a tar pot I bought at an agricutural museum auction about 30 years ago – it came in very handy in my white witch hippy days of affirmations, incantations and making powerful wishes.
It is not very often I can say I do not like a flower but I don’t like this one – is there someone out there who does? I will wait til flowering time is over and then I am happy to pack them up and post them to anyone in the UK who would like them.
I can turn my hand to a few spells should spells be needed, but only of the White Witch variety.

I have these too. they aren’t my favourite (I too have white ones, picked up from Bernaville Nurseries a few years ago), my fave are always blue and yellow. All of them grow beautifully at our allotment, what I particularly love is the lack of effort involved 😉

If they like where they are growing they really need very little maintenance don’t they. I would love some white irises – I have bought two that were labelled as white – one had purple on it and the other is a pale apricot. I’ll keep trying.

Hehe, it takes all kinds to make a garden. 😉 They aren’t so bad, but I imagine they need a certain colour scheme to look well in the garden.

They are rather extraordianry and turned very nearly black in the vase – ooo – spooky! A shame they don’t flower at Halloween.

I would call them “interesting.” I don’t hate them but they wouldn’t be my first choice to plant either. As to spells, my garden-related request would be another year of rain of the kind we’ve had this year. If political spells are in scope, delivering an eviction notice to the current resident of our White House would be much appreciated.

I like the brown flowers, though I would call them bronze – sounds prettier, anyway. I also have a cauldron, mine has Desert Roses in it!

Ok, I really like them. Such a different combination and the little cauldron is perfect. I am a huge Practical Magic film fan and this “vase” immediately reminded me of the movie.

I rather like brown flowers and this combination is striking. They may look quite sinister but they are fun, specially displayed in a cauldron.

And I thught you were making iris jam. I think they are pretty, My irises are just plain blue and yellow.

I have stirred the pot and the Spell Instructions are to go to the settings on your server (mine is Safari) and see if the settings include some magic words. I have to go to Services > Services Preferences > Text
I’m not certain that is what you are after but it is all this witch can come up with!

White irises!!!!! You have white irises!!!!!!! I am searching for white ones – I have bought two that were advertised as white on their label – one turns out to be purple and white, the other is apricot and white – Now apricot is another colour that has no place in my garden!
I would LOVE a trade, but you must be outside the UK. 😦

And someone probably went to a lot of trouble to create them! I too would probably prefer the all blue irises but I have no suitable space for irises.

Does it help to think of them by jewel names? Amber, agate and tiger’s eye, combined with amethyst, spinel and tanzanite. I love irises in any colour and form (except maybe yellow, not so much there), but Australia’s too far, and I wouldn’t be allowed to bring them in through quarantine anyway 😦

I like them, I have some, I even have the same cauldron and stand.
I don’t know whether you would think them better or worse but we have some all brown ones too – or ‘bronze’ as we like to call them.
One (wo)man’s witchy flower is another’s beautiful, voluptuous iris, so I’m sure you’ll find a taker.
