In a Vase on Monday

I was in a bit of a rush as I left the house to visit some friends for supper and gathered a big bunch of flowers from my wild bit of the garden

I just had time to plonk them in a jug, take a photo and dash.

In the bunch are honeysuckle (grown from a cutting), golden rod (self seeded), marjoram (self seeded), poppy seed heads( self seeded), purple toadflax (self seeded), a tall pink dianthus (grown from gathered seed), feverfew (self seeded), leycestra formosa (self seeded), bronze fennel (self seeded), and a weed with purple flowers like a thistle (self seeded) that I don’t know the name of.

They looked so much better when my friend transfered them to her vase in front of her fireplace.vase on Monday

I continue to enjoy the progress in my ‘long border’ – here it isΒ at 7am this morning

  1. Love your border, it made me think I need some coarse texture in mine. hmmmm. And the vase, sometimes the casual ones turn out the best and the fireplace placement, brilliant.

  2. Your bunch does look lovely against your friend’s white fireplace. There is something lovely about a random bunch of wild flowers.

  4. Your friend must have loved receiving your mixed bouquet – beautiful as a walk in the country! The long border is looking fabulous. I liked hearing all the birds calling in the background, too. πŸ™‚

    • My friend does lots of beautiful formal arrangements, but she did really seem to love this wild mixed bunch as she lives in a town and has a small (but beautiful) garden herself. I’m so glad you are enjoying the bird song, it calms down a bit from now on, but there are still plenty about.
