On Friday I took my daughter and her children to see the Ignite Garden display at Kingston Lacy
Which was a magical way to meet outside at the start of their Christmas holidays.
This is Little Miss M, in a pixie hat I knitted, who just seemed to feel right at home in the Fern Garden
As we were walking round, we were talking about Christmas trees and I was telling the children how I used to take my children into the woods to collect fallen branches, that we would take home, and decorate for our tree as I did not want to kill a tree for Christmas.
Nowadays, I don’t ‘do’ Christmas and haven’t put any Christmas decorations up for years. I will be in a caravan by the sea this year, and I am really looking forward to it.
On Saturday, Little Miss M walked over to my house with a present
…….a branch they had to cut off their tree to balance it, topped with a decoration I had made with the children a couple of years ago
and some pink yarn because I like pink. She carried the lametta in her pocket so it wouldn’t blow away and then put it on the ‘tree’ as she gave it to me.
Heart-melting! I will take it with me to my caravan by the sea!
Joining Cathy for In a Vase on Monday.
Lovely story Sandra and great night photos.

I love the light show, especially the giant snail and the toadstool vignette. Your granddaughter’s thoughtful mini-Christmas tree is the perfect mobile decoration to brighten your holiday.

We all enjoyed the light show – althugh it was over all too soon. I love that I will have my little tree to take with me. 🙂

What a lovely outing and a lovely gesture from the children 😊 I wondered if this would be your solo Christmas this year – and if you were going back to the treehouse!

Yes, it is my solo Christmas. I would love to be in the treehouse, but it is in Wales, and too far to travel under the current circumstances. Hey ho!

Oh yes of course, I had forgotten it was in Wales

It just stood out, as it was the first time (in my recollection) you had mentioned your Christmas routines and it was just so very different from anybody’s else’s. I don’t think it was only 2 years ago though – is it 4 years now?

I was thinking you must have been out of sync with your years , if that was 3 years ago, but looking back at your post it was Dec 16/Jan 17. I had forgotten it was as long as a month too – that really is a good length of time to spend recharging and just being. Are you going for a month this time too? If I was on my own it’s certainly the sort of thing I would consider.

Just two weeks this time. It is odd this NEED to get away that so many of us feel in this modern world. I am perfectly happy in my Lockdown creative world, but I am really missing planning trips away – it is the planning and the fantasies attached to the plannig that I miss more than the actual trips. Curious!

That display of lights is beautiful and how great you could share it with your daughter and grandchildren! Your story of Christmas trees past obviously started ideas flowing and a creative spark took hold! Enjoy your caravan by the sea.
