Look what arrived in the post yesterday!
A lovely homemade, get-well-soon card from Cathy. I absolutely love anything handmade and this really cheered me up. Do you think she knows how much I love pink!
I have Covid, Cathy has had Covid so it has been lovely to have someone of my vintage to compare notes with.
I have not been too bad, mainly lacking in energy. I am pretty sure I caught the virus at a family wedding, as my son, son-in-law, daughter-in-law and several other guests all got it at the same time. And it was SUCH a magical day!
Little Miss M was a bridemaid and here we are comparing headdresses
She had smarter shoes for the formal bit.
I was so pleased to be able to wear the same jacket, skirt and fascinator that I wore to her wedding 16 years ago.
The decorations in the marquee were spectacular
so was the cake
Which I was glad to be able to taste at the time.
With Covid, I briefly lost my sense of taste, which was very strange.
I could taste salt, sweetness, bitterness and spicyness in curry and mustard, but all with no flavour. The colours, texture, and temperature became very noticeable.
Milky is silky. Bananas were the weirdest, crisps were luxury!
My taste is gradually returning but I still can’t smell anything (especially not something burning!).
How are you all?
Take care.
What a gorgeous card, and all the wedding wear looks fabulous!
But am so sorry you’ve gotten covid, although Cathy’s card does really brighten things up. Take care & get plenty of rest! ππ

Thank you Cathy. My shoes really cheer me up. They are from Irregular Choice, an online shop in UK.

Oh no ! Hope you get well soon. It felt wrong to βlikeβ your comment, though I like that you replied. I was at a wedding too at the weekend and it occurred to me that such a massed gathering could easily result in Covid transmission. So far ok and havenβt heard of any guests affected thank goodness!

I’m glad your event wasn’t the super spreader that ours turned out to be!

Oh, that wedding looks lovely. So sorry you caught Covid. Unfortunately, very easy to catch, and I know lots of people who have had it. Really snappy card! So cheerful.

Yes, such a cheering card. Glad you have not had Covid Laurie, although I haven’t really been very ill, I have had worse bouts of flu in the past. It just seems to be dragging on a bit.

I’m so glad you’re on the mend! Lovely photos, and no hint of what’s to come, you look flourishing. I have some idea of what you are going through: during chemo, I lost the ability to taste things correctly. Fruit all tasted bad. Lots of things had no taste at all. Chocolate was like eating clay, quite disgusting. There are still days when I experience some disturbance in taste, although they’re thankfully few.I do hope your sense of smell returns completely with a full recovery. Hugs xxx

Thank you Kate. I was fascinated by the experience of losing a sense of taste. I have a couple of friends with a permanent loss of the sense of smell, but not because of Covid.
