“whatever the question, creativity is the answer”

Blogland is such a wonderfully positive community of creative people and enriches my creative life.

Bright colours dancing together feed my soul.

My Mum taught me to knit when I was 5 as I am left-handed and she wanted to teach me to knit right-handed so that I would be able to follow patterns easily.  *   What a gift!!   *    It set me on the road of making things that has been a joy and delight all my life.

I live on the South Coast of England and spend many happy hours walking on cliffs and beaches. Sometimes stopping to create a labyrinth or mandala.

Why WILD DAFFODIL?

Firstly a DAFFODIL is the flower emblem of Wales and I am very proud of my Welsh heritage, my Mum was Welsh.

Second: I used to live in an idyllic spot where wild daffs grew in the meadow, I made a collection of all the names of the plants that grew in that ancient permanent pasture – one of my favourites was the ‘corky-fruited water dropwort’ and then how about ‘Marsh Cudweed’, said in a broad Dorset accent this sounds like a character from a child’s storybook. I held camps there and one camp decided they would each take on the name and persona of the plants for a day and dressed up accordingly – can you imagine dressing-up as ‘Pendulous Sedge’! Anyway … I remember ‘Wild Daffodil’, complete with daffodil yellow feather boa, being an absolutely spectacular apparition, and I think of that amazingly creative group when I think of Wild Daffodil.

  1. I have had a huge break from blogging to persue my crochet teaching ‘obsession’
That’s what hubby calls it! See what you think?

    • How funny that we have swopped places. I lived at White Horse Farm 1972 – 1981 and then in Osmington village for a few years. Eventually moving to Broadoak in 1996. I don’t know any other bloggers around here. Let’s meet up one day. 🙂

  6. Sounds like a busy and fun life! I wish I could paint. Always meant to take classes but it got lost in the other stuff. 🙂 I can crochet and knit but seldom do these days. Only if a project beckons, or a good cause. Nice to learn a little bit about you and thanks for making it to my blog. 🙂

    • Thanks for popping in Jo. You have hit the nail on the head with ‘busy and fun’. As the song goes ‘there is a season……’ I expect you will return to creative pursuits when the tides move in that direction, if you want to that is! 😉

You will know I am back when I start writing Haiku again. Did you spot my easycrochetblog.wordpress blog? It’s my latest obsession.

    • Thank you for you lovely comment Roz – it is great to hear from you again and welcome back to blogland – you have such a busy life and summer must be amazingly busy chez vous! I tried to look at your crochet blog but could not find it. Can you send it to me a link.
Your silo will be a unique cosy hideaway – looking forward to seeing what you do with the inside.
So glad to know you enjoy reading through my posts. I do love writing them and sharing ideas with others. The blog acts as a crafting diary for me which is useful as I’m hopeless at keeping a diary. 😉

          • Maybe I should write another book “Roz on Oz” ….. don’t inspire me on that one!! There are many similarities in blogging and writing a book Sandra, you would be good at it !! I self published mine , huge learning curve , lots of ups and downs, but way to go.

  9. I’m also quite fond of daffodils – which begin blooming here in California in February. Living near a field of daffs would be a dream come true for me. Nice to meet you!

    • Lovely to have you drop by Jan. Living next to that daffodil meadow really was a dream come true for me, it lasted for 10 glorious years. I have wonderfully fond memories of that time. Very nice to meet you too! ❤

  10. I didn’t know daffodil is the flower emblem of Wales! Truth is I LOVE daffodils myself… I always admired how strong and fresh they stand longer than all other freshly cut flowers in the vase.

  12. Hello! Thanks for the “like” on Melissa’s blog! (The Aran Artisan) I just dropped in to visit, say hello and make new friends! I can’t wait to explore your blog a bit more. We share a love of crafts: knitting, crochet and craft du jour. I think it is terrific that you are teaching your granddaughter to sew – I spent so many wonderful creative hours as a child – and girls now just have no clue. I’ll look for your Pinterest boards!

  14. I’m only new to blogging, but the online community is simply lovely. There’s so many interesting tidbits to learn about everyone and everything. My husband is half Welsh, and proud to be so. His mum migrated to Australia as a teenager, and he was raised in a very Aussie family. But he clings to the little things he’s picked up from her, like the funny way she says ‘here’ more like ‘huer’. It’s rather endearing. We’d love to visit Wales one day.

    • I’m glad you are enjoying blogging too. A bubble of creative positivity! If you ever get to Wales, let me know – you never know, we might be able to meet up. My Mum comes from south west Wales and I go back as often as I can. You can see lots of posts of Solva and the surrounding area on my blog if you want to take a little virtual tour. Do you know which part of Wales your mother-in-law (strange phrase!) comes from?

      • I’m not sure where exactly she is from, but if I think of it I’ll ask my husband when he gets in from work later. I’ll definitely ask you for advice if we ever plan a trip to Wales, you’ll know all the best places to visit!

    • Hi Jackie!!! Lovely to hear from you! 🙂 :-))
I will be posting on this Wild Daffodil blog from now on, which is why I have brought all my archives with me. If Sarah, Wendy and I do something together at the Beach Hut, I might put something on the Stonechat blog, but it will be a very rare occurrence and I will link to it from this blog. Thanks for asking and thank you for finding me!!! It’s lovely to have you along. I hope to take you on some Winter Walks soon. xxxxxxxxx

      • Sounds good! I hadn’t realized you were sharing the stonechat blog with Sarah and Wendy. It was funny when you and your new WD blog “liked” a post from my blog… Your writing seemed familiar, somehow. And it became clear, as I continued reading your new blog, that you were one and the same! …lol… Happily looking forward to more of those walks! 🙂 ♥ ❤
