Flake

Hi there! and Welcome to our Photographic Monthly Meet-Up, held on the first Tuesday of each month. The prompt for this month is FLAKE.

A favourite terracotta vessel I painted a few years ago garden pots is flaking nicely

The next 4 photos were taken of flaking paint on beach huts at Church Ope Cove on Portland

I would love to be able to do a colour analysis of this photos – to me they would all make wonderful colour palettes for a crochet blanket, or a knitted Fairisle jumper.

If you know of a free website or app that would pick out the colours for me I’d love to have the link.black, tan, white, blue

The next two photos were taken on the island of La Gomera in January 2008

Nearly good enough as a piece of art to hang on the wall:

Last week I went for a visit to Tyneham and Worbarrow with my daughter and her children – one of our favourite destinations for a summer’s day.

The children are fascinated by the ruined buildings and the old school room

The door to the School and its window fit the theme

Then on to the barn where there is an old theatre, with flaking scenery paint on the barn wall

I have gone for flaking paint but I’m looking forward to seeing where the prompt has taken you.

All entries are welcome, both archive and current, just leave a link in the comments below any time up until next month’s prompt kicks in.

Next month’s prompt is

Scheepjes Stonewashed, mandala madness in waiting

I literally HUGGED this parcel when it arrived, before opening the plastic wrapper, before seeing what was inside, I hugged it and did and little dance and a skip!  I savoured imagining what it would look like, what it would feel like – I squealed with delight – my postman knows me – he smiles knowingly.

Of course I do not need more yarn, I do not need to start yet another new project, I do not need a ‘cake’, I have no idea what I will make with it, just had to get one!

…….  on the other hand the impulse to try out Mandala Madness in a different yarn and colour-way is too overwhelming to resist.

You understand, don’t you!

I’m going for pastels this time in 4ply Scheepjes Stonewashed a cotton and acrylic mix.

Decision time: this palette?colour palette for Mandala Madness

or this one without the stronger pink and turquoise?

I think it might be a bedcover for one of the twins – girls aged 4. The colours go with their bedroom.

This will be another Mandala Madness with Spiro Star at the centre, both patterns by Helen Shrimpton, with video Tutorials by Esther

I’m so excited, I just want to get going on it – but – the sun is shining and there’s gardening to be done – high class dilemnas!

Joining in today with Cathy’s Natter on a Friday.

Summer Flight Throw

Have been wanting to start a new big crochet project and inspired by Lucy at Attic 24 who has put together a palette of colours on the Wool Warehouse and Deramores websites, I wanted to have a go at putting my own palette together.

The throw is to go on the futon that sits below ‘Summer Flight’.

So, how about using the same palette of colours.

I found the yarn in the Wool Warehouse

Very excited about playing with different combinations of colours within the same palette.

I had such fun arranging them on the sofa – glee! is the word that comes to mind!

I also just had to add a brilliant orange colour
Stylecraft Special DK – Jaffa (1256)

Because I am also wanting to make some things in one of my favourite combos of pink and orange. With maybe a bit of purple and turquoise too – oooooh – I so LOVE that combo
