Girls out Shopping

shell art, #sillysaturday, shell people, shell collage

Maggie went shopping in town

Enjoying a good look around

She thought it was great

Bumping into her mate

They went to a cafe to sit down

~

They chatted over a nice cup of sea

Both of them buzzing like bees

Comparing their goodies

From high-heels to hoodies

The Sales made shopping a breeze!

The background is an unfinished acrylic painting on canvas that I have never been able to resolve. It is the result of playing with bright colours in a Process Art kind of way. It has come in handy for a Silly Saturday background giving a suggestion of the town where Maggie and Shelma can meet up for a chat over a cuppa.

So thrilled to be teaming up with Judy again.

Pop along over to Judy’s website and enjoy a wry look at life, in poetry and prose, always told with honesty and lashings of good humour.

Cinders?

Maggie rummaged through the ball gown rails in her local charity shops and found this little number – a bit of upcycling and she was off …

shell picture

A Panto was coming to town

Maggie donned her best gown

She was going for an audition

For the Cinderella position

And didn’t want to let herself down.

The producers were very impressed

And thought that she was the best

Her smile so disarming

She won over Prince Charming

And outshone all of the rest.

Maggie’s career had come very far

From her lap dancing days in the bar

How she loved being on stage

But missed the large wage

She could get from the cash in her bra!

Here we are again with another Silly Saturday.

Judy is writing a series of Christmas Limericks at the moment – just right to read out as an antidote to all those cracker jokes.

Have a wonderful time, whatever you get up to.

Do The Monster Mash

assemblage art, shells, coral

On the scariest night of the year

The Halloween Disco was here

The Shelleys so cool

Dressed as ghosties and ghouls,

Looking rather scary and weird

Thriller got them up on the floor

Monster Mash had them begging for more,

Bewitched went down well

As did Bat out of Hell

And they danced as never before.

Are you all ready for Halloween? The Shelleys are and at the Dee-I-esS-Cee-O!

Silly Saturday: Shell Show

assemblage art with shells

Walking to the seaside one day

Grandpa and Granny met friends on the way

They had quite a fright

Realising something wasn’t right

At a loss to know what to say.

There was an Ugly Shell Show

And the friends had decided to go

They transformed their features

Into hideous creatures

That, Grandpa and Granny didn’t know.

Granny had got such a scare

What had happened to poor Wilbur’s hair?

And Micky’s disguise

With massive bug eyes

And those lips…Wow, what a huge pair!

Even their little Sonny joined in

With the sockets of his eyes coloured in

Jill’s face was so flat

Like she’d been hit by a bat

Now who you YOU think will win?

Another fun collaboration this Saturday with Judy. I send her a photo of some shell characters – and I just love what happens next – Judy gives the characters life and let’s me know what on earth they are up to and that in turn sparks another idea in my mind and sends me back to the boxes of shells, pebbles and pieces of coral.

I expect you know by now how much I love to join forces with other creative minds. If any of the characters that appear on our Silly Saturdays spark an idea for a story or a poem, please get in touch. Judy and I are tentatively thinking of putting a little book together and we would both love it if it could be a group effort from our wonderful blogging community. All very much in the early stages and we welcome thoughts and ideas. I’m wondering about an ebook with sales going to charity … but all those details are up for discussion. Here’s a reminder of the characters so far.

I do hope you are having a very Silly Saturday.

We are being battered by yet another storm here – it’s been given the name Brian – I’m not sure I like this naming of storms.

A good excuse, if one were needed, to get on with my crochet, whilst dreaming up another bit of fun to have with the Shelleys and the Stones.

Silly Saturday: Maggie Dreaming

shell dancer

Maggie fancied trying something new

And thought about what she could do

Dancing around a steel pole

Was becoming quite dull

But what, she hadn’t a clue

In her mirror she struck a new pose

Standing on the tips of her toes

With a graceful demeanour

Like a beautiful ballerina

She imagined being the star of the show

Judy and I have teamed up again to be Silly on a Saturday. Our Maggie has started to dream of new areas in which to expand her talents….. I wonder where she will take us next ….. any ideas of what she might get up to?

~

Encouraged by your wonderful comments and support I am getting some of the Maggie pictures printed on Greetings Cards. I’m wondering how many to print? If you would like to buy one/some, it would be great if you could let me know by email.

Which picture you would like and would you like the cards with or without the poems?

Direct from me they will sell at £1.90 with poem and be 8″x6″ and at £1.50 without the poem, measuring 7″ x 5″.  Postage will be added depending on quantity.

I will put some cards in my Etsy shop, but they will have to sell for a little more there to cover the Etsy costs.

Please go to the Contact Me Page to send me a private message if you would like any of the cards – thank you.

Here are the Maggie Pictures to choose from, click on any to go large:

Silly Saturday Aliens

assemblage art with coral

You earthlings are really quite mad

Surely yoga is just a strange fad?

Standing still like a tree

Is alien to me

It’ s not the best fun that I’ve had

You say it helps you relax?

I think I’ve put out my back!

All this stretching and bending

Is torture never-ending

I’m sure I can feel my bones crack!

Another fun creative collaboration between Judy and me. I do hope you are enjoying our ‘Silly Saturdays’ as much as we are enjoying putting them together.

Appropriate, as my back is giving me jip and, later today, I’m off the see if the Osteopath can CRACK my bones back into shape. Wish me luck!
