My Marathon-Running son (age 39) is in the Sahara.
He arrived on the 6th and the photo is of the sun going down over the tents on Friday night, his first night in the desert. It was posted on Facebook by the Marathons des Sable photographers.
He and his team of 5 other Chartered Surveyors are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
They will be running 6 Marathons in 6days – Whaaaaaaaaat!!! Crazy!
They “will run over 250km (156 miles) through endless dunes, over rocky jebels, and across white-hot salt plains.” A quote from the website.
I am glued to the Marathons des Sables Facebook Page as there are real time videos, photos and interviews – I haven’t seen Ralph yet though.
He will have a GPS tracker on him when he’s running and he tells me I will be able to follow him – a dot on a map – when he is racing.
The wonders of technology.
His first race starts at 9am (10am here) when at last the months of gruelling training is going to be put into practice. I have to admit I have butterflies.
Go Ralph!
