I’ve been playing around with rust.
These pictures will only exist as photographs, which might in time be printed on canvas or paper.
The background painting is 16″x16″, acrylic paint and sand mixed with PVA on canvas
Which photograph do you think would look best printed on canvas?

And I would have said no 2 until I read Curlsnskirls comment and looked again at no 3 again and it’s now a close thing!

Thank you Cathy. If it wasn’t so expensive to have them printed on canvas I would print all of them. Number three seems most popular here.

I know what you mean about the price – I have been looking at how I could use photos outside… printed on aluminium is looking like the best option so far

Wow! That sounds exciting – I’ll have to look into that one. Thanks!!!!!

It was on Aldi’s site where I looked and no doubt there are others so I will do some more probing – not cheap, but they would look good!

I Googled it and found a couple of sites – I think I’ll have to try one – looks fab! Thank you so much for the idea.

I have bought photo products through Aldi before so looked there first and the aluminium ones sound as if they would be OK outside. Their photo service is really efficient too. Do let me know what alternatives you find as I know you can get outdoor canvases but I don’t know where or how much

I Googled it and whitewall.com and my-picture.co.uk came up as the top two for aluminium, outdoorcanvas.co.uk came up for canvases with colours guaranteed for 3 years.

Thanks for those links – I might email the outdoor canvas people to confirm what the expected life might be, although the HD aluminium ones look to be the best bet. Do you think you will do something with the (no 3) photo of your recent beach art?

I love the first one – the rust really contrasts well with the turquoise background. Would make a lovely piece of art.

Thank you – I just have to figure out how to fix quite heavy rusty objects to canvas so that they are secure – I’m sure there will be a way.

Love them both, but surely the fish is too cute for words! That would be my choice for printing to canvas. The second photo has a very nice warmth to it also. Can’t help but repeat…clever as ever Sandra!!

Bless you Melissa – thank you for taking time to comment – I think i would like a picture of the ‘Fish at a party’ up in my bathroom.

Enjoyed them all, but especially the last. Thought, bird in flight with wire for nest building. Am going to vote for the third, as to me it seems almost a combination of 1 & 2, but can’t say why. Have the feeling it’ll grow on you. (If that makes sense!)

Love them all – but the first two really caught my eye – you are so creative!

Thank you MM. Being creative is both a blessing and a curse – I probably spend far too many hours arranging things! So glad to know your response.

the first one really make me think of the Callanish standing stones against the sky, I like the 3rd looking across the surface too, Frances

Oh what a wonderful association with the stones – I’m thrilled to know that! I just looked them up on Google images – so inspiring. I’m going to see if I can take that forward into another painting – can’t thank you enough Frances. ❤ So glad you like the third one, I think that might be my favourite.

glad you like our standing stones Sandra, they are quite different from those much publicised stones in Wiltshire and free for visitors to wander around, sit and ponder, enjoy anytime of day and night, nice to know they have inspired you further, Frances

They look and sound magical, it must be wonderful to sit within them.

These are wonderful! I think the last two would be particularly great on canvas (and I love the little swimmer in the bottom arrangement).

Glad you like them – little swimmer?

Oh good gracious! It’s a fish mouth!! I didn’t see the shape formed by the string and the little clip (clothespin?) looked like a representative swimmer.

Love it! It’s great when we see different things in pieces of art. ❤
