The Woodland Crochet Along, Week 2 completed.
It doesn’t matter how long we take to do the Woodland Blanket, it’s not a race, but it is a good feeling to keep up with the group of avid Attic24 fans as hundreds of us all over the world are walking along the woodland paths with Lucy.
Last night I finished Week 2’s 18 rows. I’m mostly following Lucy’s Random colour order, but I have substituted Mocha (beige) with Walnut (brown).
The blanket had not been earmarked for anyone in particular when I started out, but I was with Big Bro and Little Bro and Little Bro asked me who I was making it for. When I said I didn’t know yet, he told me he liked it very much! You should have seen his face light up when I told him it could be his.
He is only 5 but wanted to know all about the CAL and how it worked. Then we laid it out on his bed. There were many questions about how long it would be and about what a border or edging is and how it might look in the end.
He has brown eyes so it suits him very well and I’m delighted to know who will snuggle up under it when it is finished.
You might remember how much he liked the Dorset Hedgerow blanket when I was making that a year ago.
I am loving some of the colour combinations in this blanket
Storm Blue, Spice, Tomato and Mustard – yummy!
Enjoying the journey
Now on with Part 3!
If you want a good old natter about all things yarny and other subjects that pop up at random, zip over to Cathy’s and see who’s there for a chat.

It’s looking great and so good it will be loved:)

Beautiful already! And good job, Little Bro, for getting an order in so soon. My children treasured the knitted blankets from their Gran….always anxious to see what colors theirs would be.

Yes, he did well! I did ask him a few months ago what colours he wanted for a blanket and he couldn’t decide, so I’m pleased he liked this one when he saw it.

This is growing very quickly, and I love the colour combinations. Little Bro is a lucky little boy to be the recipient of this. 🙂

Thank you Eddie, I’m a lucky Granny too to have such appreciative little ones to make things for.

Gorgeous! And that’s so cute about Little Bro.
I, just this week, gave my Toddlerbot (he’s 18 months old) his first “lesson” in crochet. All of a sudden he doesn’t try and play with my work as much. He wants to hold the hook and try to make things. It’s so cute. I imagine when he’s 5 he’ll do something similar to your Little Bro. 🙂

I would be if he wasn’t growing so much! I keep trying to make him a Weasley Sweater but every time I turn around he’s grown another inch. He’s in the 90th percentile for everything in growth (and for 18 months, wears 4T just slightly too big, but 3T is slightly almost too small…) He did get a cute Jayne hat when he was 6 months, though.
I have small patience for things like blankets since I tend to sell my things-made-of-strings at conventions so I like to make smaller items for inventory. But I love the way this blanket is looking!

Wow – he really wants to get on with things! They do grow fast!
Good luck with your sales.

Thank you Mrs.P. I hope all my grandchildren will have a blanket eventually: 3 done, this one soon to be half done, 4 to go.

Nearly halfway there then!! Well I’m on a similar quest, made a quilt for number 1, just finishing a blanket for number 2 and number 3’s put his order in… I hope he doesn’t expect it too soon, the current one’s been on the go for over a year!! 😜

I like to think it teaches them patience! Good luck with Number 3’s.

What a sweet story! I can just picture a little brown-eyed boy being covered by the woodlands as he sleeps. Magical!

You always have such a lovely way of looking at things Laurie, your comment makes me think of a happy Babes in the Wood story.

Looking great, and how wonderful to have such an interested spectator! 😄 I loved all his questions, so very earnest at this age, delightful!

Yes, ‘earnest’ is a good description, and so delightful! I stayed at his house last night and this morning, the first thing he asked me was if I had done anymore to his blanket. 🙂

I do like seeing your projects, Sandra, even if I have no intention of starting up crotcheting again myself! It’s looking good… 🙂
